She said yes! . .but the ring is quite loose man

Making the actual purchase is the first step in buying a proposal ring, not the last. After which comes the questions about 'after-sales services'.

One of the many considerations of meticulous buyers nowadays, is how to go about guesstimating the ring size and still be able to resize the ring without further hustle. In JannPaul, we offer 2 times free resizing into bigger or smaller ring size for 18k gold and 1 time for platinum. Furthermore, we would prefer to have your ring re-crafted when the size difference is too big, as altering the original ring would make the band go oval shape.

What's more amazing is that, as white, rose, or yellow gold oxidizes as part of the wear-and-tear process of the band, we offer 2 times free re-polishing and re-plating for gold and 1 time for platinum, which would turn your scratched or oxidized band back to its original glory!

Also, we thought of one of the many little things most ladies appreciate. What do you think of engraving a personal message inside your band, say your special date or maybe your initials? We offer 1 free laser engraving in either standard or cursive font.

However,  I would recommend that you do it after your proposal for her to try the ring for a couple of days. This is to ensure that the ring size is suitable as further re-sizing of the ring will polish off your engraving.

All this, you can do any time after you made your purchase, no due dates, no deadlines…
Polishing and resizing would typically take 3-4 weeks (still depending on how big the ring size difference is) while engraving can be done in about 2 week time.

In addition, we would recommend for you to visit us at least once a year for us to do a quick prong check of your ring. This is to ensure the security of your diamond. In case that we need to tighten up the claws, we’ll do it free of charge as well.

Please do visit us for the full diamond consultation session, to answer all your inquiries for the biggest event of your life.

To schedule an appointment, you may email us at sales@jannpaul.com or call our office at +65 6733 2925.

Greetings Everyone!

Hi! I'm Cheyserr and it is my job to liaise with our diamond cutters and process them from our suppliers down to the final quality control check of the finished ring. Throughout the process, I keep a keen eye to every detail to make sure that everything adheres to JannPaul's demanding standards.

Being with the team for three years now made me realize that a diamond’s beauty is not just defined by its carat, clarity and color but no more and no less than the cut as well. Yes! You heard it right, JannPaul's signature cut. Such refines the standard of a gorgeous diamond ring to whole new dimension.

Through our education session, we impart and equip our clients the technical know how to a certain degree that will serve as a guideline for them to express a choice in personalizing their ideal ring that suits their special someone's preference. We handle you to a level where we put ourselves on your shoes and this what makes Jannpaul apart from the others.

In JannPaul, you just have to find a partner and we shall help you craft the perfect ring.

Importance of a Diamond's Cut over Color

Many customers come to me, mentioning they want the best color grade diamond, assuming that the better the color, the brighter the diamond will be. This is a common misconception that many people make, thinking that the color grade of a diamond affects its brilliance or brightness.

What most people don't realise is that the Color actually relates to the hue of the diamond. The lower the color grade, the more yellowish hue the diamond has. Whereas the brightness is related to its light performance. What this means is that even if you get the best "D" color grade diamond and it has poor light performance, it would look darker and duller compared to another diamond of an even lower color grade!

For more information, watch this video below.

So how does Color affect the visual appearance of a diamond?
Below is a video, showing 4 Super Ideal Cut diamonds from D to G. I always recommend my clients and friends to view the color grade differences of a diamond in person to have a better feel. Most of the time, they find that it is not as obvious as what they imagined it to be.

Another important aspect to note are BGM (brownish / greenish / milky) diamonds. If a diamond has any BGM characteristics, it would not be shown on the GIA certificate. This effect is not related to the Color grade or fluorescence. What this means is that a GIA certified D color diamond with no fluorescence, may still have a brownish, greenish or milky appearance! This is due to the make of a diamond. Hence, it is important to check if your diamond has any BGM.

If you're unsure, always ask a trusted jeweller :)

Falling. . . . in love!

Skydiving also known as parachuting is performed as a recreational activity. It is widely considered as an extreme sport due to the risk involved during the free-fall while parachute isn’t deployed yet. But how would you feel about the idea of professing your love after such a heart stopping free-fall?

Being in a 3 year relationship, Jazpar felt that it’s about time to tie the knot with his partner, Yen Ching. And though they’re not probably a perfect fit couple and don’t have a lot of common interest and stuff, as the young guy describes, somehow he felt that all gelled up together well.

To officially ask Yen’s hand, Jazpar did his due diligence in finding the perfect diamond ring and through social media and friend recommendation, he got to know about JannPaul.
Without any prior knowledge when it comes to diamond rings, he made an appointment with us only having a Carat preference and a proposal date in mind.

When asked what are his considerations to come up with the setting and diamond, he answered.. “First is the budget, then it’s the recommendation from you! =)”

In the end, he decided to go for a nice twirling design with side diamonds that gives the ring a soft flowing effect which compliments Yen’s endearing character. It holds in a dainty Super Ideal Cut diamond that suits Yen’s ring size perfectly.

To realize the plan, Jazpar had coordinated with the staffs of the sky diving company months before there scheduled holiday. And a day after Christmas was the long awaited moment for the young man.

Getting nervous but still trying to keep his composure, Jazpar dived first and prepared real fast before his sweet angel descends 😍 ..

“Although there were periods of ups and downs, I'm glad you're always there by my side. I may not be the most romantic person you may know but I hope to be the one to give you happiness for the rest of your life… Will you marry me?”

Jazpar being asked to describe his experience in 2 words would simply say, it’s ‘nerve wrecking’ - whether it’s the dive or the proposal, only he knows!  😉

Congratulations Yen Ching and Kok Yong Jazpar!

JP Ring Unboxing Video: A flower ring design

Whenever we receive a ring customization request, our team gets very excited to come up with something new. In this case, our client requested for an engagement ring to have look like a flower. Our design team (Jann & Issac) took up the challenge and came up with this.

This a a 3D render of the top view.
The main diamond is meant to have a blossom effect and highlight the brilliance of the main diamond. The curvature of the prongs can be seen from the top, giving the ring a soft and organic look.

We added small diamonds to each of the petal to give the ring some extra bling!
To further enhance the silhouette of the ring, we added a round circle (with melee diamonds) to the base of the prongs, which tied everything together and created a crown effect.

For all of our customized rings, it comes with these 3D renders with different viewing angles.
They are drawn to scale to be proportional with your diamond and ring size.
Once you've approved your design, we would proceed to craft your ring.

Finally, this is the final outcome of your perfect ring!

About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Eugene Seah. I am one of the new member who recently joined the JannPaul Team. My fascination of diamond came about when Paul himself introduced diamonds to me eight years back. Like every other person, i was only concerned with the carat , colour and clarity of a diamond.

Clueless about its cut and combinations, I was impressed how meticulous Paul in analysing the diamonds proportions and its combinations, at the same time simplifying it for me.

On that day, I was shown the Super ideal cut diamond, an Ideal Cut diamond, and a Normal triple excellent cut diamond from GIA. And the Super Ideal cut diamond indeed was and is still in its league of its own.

From that very moment, my view on diamond is on a different perspective.

In the weeks to come, I will be posting useful informations here to share with all to read.
My purpose in JannPaul is to share my knowledge on diamonds, and seek out answers for our customers who have their doubts, and questions.

The difference between a Super Ideal Cut, Ideal Cut and standard GIA triple Excellent

This is a recent diamond education video I made to highlight the difference between the Cut quality of these 3 diamonds. I specifically selected these 3 diamonds that have almost identical GIA certificates. They all have the same grades. To a layman, these 3 diamonds are pretty much the same, but somehow perform very differently.

This video proves that you should never buy a diamond just based on the GIA certificate alone. There are many factors the GIA certificate doesn't reveal such as the light performance of the diamond.

Check out this video to find out more!
